At Shooting Stars, we firmly believe that education is the only way to break the cycle of generational poverty. By providing STEM college scholarships to financially eligible students in India, we help support and motivate young people as they work to achieve their dreams.

In India, financial hardship remains one of the biggest barriers to college education.

Many bright and capable students are forced to abandon their higher education dreams simply because they cannot afford it.

At Shooting Stars Foundation, we believe that STEM scholarships are a powerful tool to break this cycle. By supporting meritorious students from low-income backgrounds, we’re not just funding education — we’re investing in future innovators, changemakers, and leaders. Our goal is to create pathways that promote educational equity, uplift communities, and build a skilled workforce equipped to drive innovation and long-term economic progress.

How do we Educate, Enable & Empower?

Scholar Stories

SSF Scholar P scored 1180 out of 1200 in his 12th standard, securing the first rank in his district and earning a prestigious admission to Madras Medical College. With parents working as daily wage earners, medical education was a distant dream. Supported by the SSF Scholarship Fund, Pandiyan has now graduated with an MBBS degree and serves as a primary doctor in a tribal region of Tamil Nadu.

With her father visually impaired and her grandfather—a farmer—being the family’s sole breadwinner, pursuing a professional degree seemed out of reach for SSF Scholar R. But with the support of the SSF Scholarship Program and the guidance of her dedicated SSF mentor, she completed her Engineering degree. Today, Scholar R is proudly pursuing her master’s in the U.S., fully on her own.

SSF Scholar P, lost her mother at the age of five and was raised in a child care institution in Bangalore. Though she started with a diploma, her dream was to become an aeronautical engineer. With support from the SSF scholarship program, she completed her 3-year engineering degree. Today, she works as a Software Engineer at a leading MNC in Bangalore and hopes to sponsor a girl scholar in the future.

After losing his father in an accident, SSF Scholar T was raised by his mother, a tailor. To repay his education loan, he worked night shifts at a gas station while attending engineering college. On the verge of dropping out, he received the SSF scholarship, completed his degree, and now works at Mindtree as a Mainframe developer. His happiness stems from the fact that his mother has now retired and her health is much better.

SSF Scholar Y studied in a government school with minimal facilities and faced uncertainty about pursuing college due to financial challenges. With an SSF scholarship, he completed his engineering degree and now works as a data scientist at Mu Sigma. In 2020, he was nominated for the Padma Shri for his service in rural COVID-19 relief. He continues to give back as an active SSF volunteer and alumnus.
